Editorial Policy
Just Fresh Milled is built to be a trustworthy reference for home bakers using freshly milled whole grain flour. This page explains how our recipes and guides are created, tested, and maintained.
Recipe Testing
Every recipe published on Just Fresh Milled is baked and tested with 100% fresh milled flour before it goes live. We verify:
- Ingredient measurements — by weight (grams) wherever possible.
- Hydration percentages appropriate to fresh milled whole grain flour.
- Mixing, fermentation, and bake times in a typical home kitchen.
- Final texture, crumb, and flavor against the recipe's stated goal.
Recipes that don't perform consistently are revised — or not published at all. You can browse all tested recipes in the recipe library.
Content Standards
Guides, grain pages, and troubleshooting articles are written to be:
- Accurate. Claims are checked against direct baking experience, established baking science, and primary sources where appropriate.
- Educational. Each page is designed to answer a specific question a fresh-milled baker actually asks.
- Focused on fresh milled flour. Advice is calibrated for whole grain, freshly milled flour — not conventional bagged flour.
All content is authored or reviewed by Peyton, the site's primary author.
Updates & Corrections
Baking knowledge evolves and so do our recipes. We update content when:
- A better technique or formulation produces a more reliable result.
- Reader feedback exposes an ambiguous instruction.
- A factual error is identified — these are corrected promptly.
If you spot something that looks wrong, please email hello@justfreshmilled.com and we'll investigate.
Independence
Recipes and recommendations are not influenced by sponsorships. When a page contains affiliate links, that relationship is disclosed in our affiliate disclosure.
